Although I was born in Massachusetts, I grew up in Waterbury, Connecticut. I graduated from Holy Cross High School in 1989 and immediately began a career as an environmental consultant. During the next three years, while working full-time for AMC Consultants in Stratford, CT, I completed various courses that allowed me to become licensed by the state as: an Insurance Broker, a Real Estate Agent, and as an Emergency Medical Technician. Although I did not go into the real estate or insurance fields, I did volunteer as an E.M.T. for a year at the Wolcott Volunteer Ambulance Association in Wolcott, CT. In 1992 I moved to Chicago, where I lived for 4 years and continued to work in the environmental consulting field. I was employed at Carnow, Conibear & Associates for two years before I left there to go work for Environmental Design International, where I also stayed for two years. Throughout my six-year career as an environmental consultant I took many environmental courses to expand my knowledge and capabilities and to advance my career. But after 6 years I became somewhat bored with my work and really I wanted and needed a change! So I moved back to Connecticut in November of 1995 to help run my father's construction company - C & C Construction - where I still work part-time as office manager.
CollegeAfter moving back to Connecticut, I found myself living only two blocks from the local two-year community college - Naugatuck Valley Community College. Since I've always enjoyed learning new things - expanding my mind and broadening my horizons - I enrolled there in the fall of 1997. At first I only wanted to take some courses that I would find interesting, but I soon came to realize that it was the perfect time to get started on my college degree. While at NVCC, I became involved in three college clubs and organizations. I was a member of the Finance Club, the Accounting Club, and Vice President of the local chapter of Phi Theta Kappa (an honors club). I was also an Accounting tutor at the college for the last of my two years at NVCC. Meeting new people and learning of other extra-curricular organizations, I soon became more interested in the community in which I lived: Waterbury. I became a member of the Literacy Volunteers of America and began tutoring pupils at the Silas Bronson Library. At the same time, I became aware, through one of Phi Theta Kappa's programs, of a place in Waterbury called the Community Tabernacle Outreach Center. I volunteered there for one year as an after-school tutor for disadvantaged children from the Waterbury area. In addition to tutoring, I also setup and installed a peer-to-peer network consisting of 13 PCs. After graduating from NVCC, I enrolled in the School of Business at Central Connecticut State University. Because I love computers and attendant technologies, I decided to make my major Management Information Systems. I am currently a senior and plan on graduating in May of 2001 with a bachelor's degree.
Hobbies & InterestsI have a black lab named Shadow that I take hiking with me all the time. Reading science fiction is a favorite pastime of mine - when I have the time :~). I also like to ski, play tennis, and shoot pool (billiards). I was on a pool league for two years while I lived in Chicago and actually made into the annual tournament - though I didn't win.
